The delegation of the Russian Geographical Society visited Thailand

On August 1-3,2019 the delegation of the Russian Geographical Society, headed by Mr. Aleksey Tikhomirov, Deputy Executive Director, visited Bangkok. The trip was organized at the invitation of the non-profit organization Siam Society under the Royal Patronage, which is a partner of the Russian Geographical Society in Thailand.

At the office of Siam Society a scientific and educational lecture was given by Mr. Kirill Kuznetsov, an expert of the Russian Geographical Society. The lecture was dedicated to historical expeditions and discoveries of Russian scientists in South East Asia.

During the visit H.E. Mr. Evgeny Tomikhin, Russian Ambassador to Thailand, met Mr. Aleksey Tikhomirov to discuss the modalities of cooperation between the Russian Geographical Society and public and scientific institutions in Thailand.

The Agreement on cooperation between the Russian Geographical Society and the Siam Society was signed during the visit of a delegation of this non-profit organization, acting under the Royal Patronage, to St. Petersburg on October 8, 2018. The document provides for joint activities to develop scientific and cultural ties, establishment of cooperation in the field of improving the quality of geographical education, promotion and development of geographical science etc.
