As reported in the media and social networks, during a recent trip to Chiang Mai with his mother, Misha Ivanov received severe burns in a hot spring while visiting one of the parks. He was admitted to a local hospital, and the Orthodox Church in Thailand Foundation began raising funds to help pay for his treatment. People who cared enough were able to quickly consolidate their efforts, which in large part helped pay for the medical expenses of 621,000 baht (which is almost $20,000).

He was transferred to Bangkok a few days ago and is now at Chulalongkorn Hospital where he is receiving specialized care. He has a long treatment ahead of him.

Our old friend Mr. Soopakij Chearavanont, the head of CP Group, who for a long time was Russian Honorary Consul in Phuket and has been recently appointed Russian Honorary Consul in Chiang Mai, has also responded to this tragedy. He has expressed his willingness to bear all the costs of Misha's further treatment in Bangkok.

The Embassy would like to thank Mr. Soopakij Chearavanont for his compassionate attitude and decision to help.

We sincerely hope that Misha's treatment will be effective and that he will recover soon. We wish him a speedy recovery.
