H.E. Mr. Kirill Barsky, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Thailand together with Colonel Andrew Alekseev, Military Attaché to the Embassy of Russia, and Military Command of “Sattahip” Naval base attended the solemn welcoming ceremony. It was organized in strict accordance with the naval protocol. A guard of honor was formed up on a helicopter deck and the national anthem of the Russian Federation was played. The guard commander rendered a report to

the Ambassador who then greeted the crew and examined the ship.

On March 2, the Commander of “Admiral Panteleev” accompanied by the captains of the ships paid a courtesy call to “Sattahip” Naval base Commander Vice-Admiral Vadm Wipaks Noichinda. The same evening “Admiral Panteleev” hosted a reception welcoming on its board representatives of the Royal Thai Navy and a delegation of the Embassy of Russia. Hospitality and cordiality of our Navy men impressed the guests and allowed the Thai side to get a real insight about the big Russian soul, Russian traditions and culture.

On March 3, Thai servicemen visited “Admiral Panteleev” and got acquainted with its weaponry as well as its operational and physical characteristics. The visit of the ship was followed by a friendly football game between Russian and Thai Navy men. The Russian crew in their turn visited Royal Thai Navy flagman – light aircraft carrier “Chakri Narubet” – and went on a Chonburi sightseeing tour.

The Command of “Sattahip” Naval base invited the Russian Navy officers to a solemn dinner in their honour at the Officers’ Club. The party was held in the atmosphere of openness and mutual understanding. The representatives of the host side unanimously supported the idea of further strengthening cooperation between the military forces of the two countries and conducting such visits on a regular basis.

On March 5, 2015, the Russian Navy Force unit of the Pacific Fleet left “Sattahip” Naval base. Its working visit was successful and contributed to the development of bilateral military ties between Russia and Thailand.
