Moscow Government held events in memory of the late King of Thailand in Bangkok

On November 27-28, 2016, Bangkok hosted a series of events honouring His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand, organized by the Government of Moscow City in cooperation with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and with support of the Embassy of Russia in Thailand. The Russian delegation led by H.E. Mr. Sergey Cheryomin, Minister of the Moscow City Government, Head of the Department for Foreign Economic Cooperation and International Relations, arrived to Bangkok to participate in the events.

The delegation of Moscow City Government visited the Grand Palace, where H.E. Mr. Sergey Cheryomin signed the Book of Condolence.

On November 27, the renowned Russian jazz quartet under the guidance of Mr. Vadim Eilenkrig was masterfully performing throughout the whole evening various compositions, written by His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand, for our Thai friends in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. The audience later recognized that it was an unforgettable concert.

On November 28, the biggest shopping and entertainment complex in Bangkok – Central World held a lively opening of the exhibition “King – Photographer of the World”. It displays a copy of the “Golden Eye” award conferred to the Thai Monarch for his outstanding achievements in the art of photography as well as unique photographs by Mr. Sergey Lidov, President of the International Guild of Professional Photographers of Russian Mass Media – works of unparalleled beauty. The exhibition will last until December 3, 2016.

On the same day the "Moscow-Bangkok" Russian-Thai Business forum, opened by H.E. Mr. Kirill Barsky, Ambassador of Russia to Thailand was held in Bangkok. Mr. Suren Vardanyan, Vice-President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Ivan Polyakov, Chairman of the Russian-Thai Business Council, Mr. Kriengkrai Thiennukul, Vice-President of the Federation of Thai Industries, Chairman of Thai-Russian Business Council, Dr. Sombat Thiratrakoolchai, President of Thai-Russian Chamber of Commerce joined by representatives of Russian and Thai business communities participated in the discussion of topical issues of cooperation in trade, economy and investment between the two countries. 

During the discussion between H.E. Mr. Sergey Cheryomin and Mrs. Wanvilai Promlakano, Vice-Governor of Bangkok, the Parties agreed to hold a large-scale cultural festival "Days of Moscow" in Bangkok in 2017 in conjunction with the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relation between Russia and Thailand.
