On October 17, 2016 the Ambassador of Russia to Thailand H.E. Mr. Kirill Barsky received in the Embassy a group of Thai education workers including representatives of the Ministry of Education of Thailand, Department of Education of Kalasin province and teachers of Kamalasai Secondary School (Kalasin City) where Russian language center was opened in September 2016.
The participants of the meeting discussed the issue of training of Russian-speaking personnel for employment in different areas of Russian-Thai cooperation including in the field of education. The Russian Ambassador advocated elaboration of special Government-to-Government training and retraining programs for Russian language teachers as well as expansion of direct contacts between Russian and Thai educational institutions.
It was noted that in the recent years interest among Thai pupils and students towards studying the Russian language has been steadily increasing. In this light the representatives of the Ministry of Education of Thailand confirmed the intention of the Thai side to scale up the number of Russian language teachers in Thai schools and universities. They also passed over their proposals on strengthening bilateral educational exchanges.
