Vladimir Putin sent congratulations to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Turkmenistan’s national holiday, Independence Day.

The Russian President praised Turkmenistan’s confident socioeconomic development and the respect it commands in the Central Asian region and beyond.

Vladimir Putin emphasised that Russian-Turkmenistani relations are based on good traditions of friendship and mutual respect, and noted with satisfaction that the recent coming into force of the agreement on strategic partnership between Russia and Turkmenistan opens new opportunities for expanding fruitful bilateral ties in all areas, which undoubtedly serves the interests of both countries and strengthens regional stability and security.
