From 23 to 26 March, 2021 the 8th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development took place in Bangkok under the auspices of the UN ESCAP in a hybrid mode.
The meeting has brought together over 1000 representatives of UN ESCAP member states, organizations and agencies of the UN system, international financial institutions, research centers, civil society.
This year deliberations under the Forum were focused on issues related to perspectives of maintaining pace of implementation of the Agenda-2030 in the Asian and Pacific region at the times when all countries are combating the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants also had a broad exchange of national experience in addressing the challenges of socioeconomic development and environmental protection taking into account a factor of negative impact the pandemic of coronavirus has had on the activities aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The outcome of the 8th APFSD will serve as regional contribution to the work of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development which will be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York this July.
