Every year, as part of the celebration of Mother Language Day in the UN Member-States, various events are held with the view of promoting respect to all languages of the world, as well as protecting endangered ones. Theme of the year 2018 – “Conservation of linguistic diversity and promotion of multilingualism for achieving Sustainable Development Goals”.
This year representatives of Thailand, India, Colombia, Mexico, China, Kazakhstan, Belgium, as well as the Alliance Française took part in the event.
Our country was stunningly represented by pupils of the School of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Thailand. They performed a poem “Monument” by Alexander Pushkin and a Russian song, that became a truly folk one, called “Katyusha”. This song has deserved love and recognition all over the world. Nobody remained indifferent, since the song was sung in three languages - Russian, English and Spanish.
