Bangkok hosted session of Joint Russian-Thai Bilateral Commission

On December 27, 2018 Bangkok hosted the 7th Session of the Joint Russian-Thai Commission on Bilateral Cooperation under the co-chairmanship of H.E. Mr. Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand.

The Session focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in such spheres as aviation industry, railway transport and infrastructure, energy, information technologies and communication, agriculture.

The sides noted sustainable growth of trade turnover between the two countries. They discussed implementation of joint projects and directions of further cooperation which can provide for largest increase in mutual trade. In particular they accentuated that the existing arrangements between Rosneft and PTT on oil supply and negotiating LNG projects between Gazprom, Novatek and PTT can greatly contribute it.

H.E. Mr. Denis Manturov stressed readiness of Russian companies to take an active part in constructing new railways and rolling stock supplies. He named using Russian integrated IT-solutions in cyber security and smart cities in Thailand as promising spheres of cooperation.  

The Ministers also emphasized the great potential to boost mutual trade in agriculture, prospects of Russian-Thai interaction in environment protection and humanitarian cooperation. Special attention was paid to conjugation of Russian economic initiatives and Eastern Economic Corridor project.

The Minutes of the meeting were adopted and following documents were signed as a result of the Session:

- Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Industry of the Kingdom of Thailand in the Sphere of Industrial Development Cooperation

- Protocol between the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of the Russian Federation and the Department of Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of the Kingdom of Thailand on Safety, Quality and Phytosanitary Requirements at Mutual Deliveries of Grain and Grain Products

- Memorandum of Understanding between the Russian-Thai Business Council and the Thai-Russian Chamber of Commerce
