Exhibition of artworks of Ambassadors of Russia and Greece opened in Bangkok

On May 25, 2018 a joint exhibition of artworks and private collections of H.E. Mr. Kirill Barsky, Ambassador of Russia to Thailand and H.E. Mr. Pericles Boutos, Ambassador of Greece to Thailand opened in Bangkok. The exhibition is dedicated to the 190th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Greece, which is celebrated this year.

The exhibition featured art photographs captured by Mr. Boutos in the 1990s during his work as Consul General of Greece in Novorossiysk, Russian Federation, paintings of his elder brother, a famous Greek artist, sketches of Mr. Barsky as well as his collection of chopstick rests. The aim of the exhibition entitled by its organizers “Who do you think we are?” was to show human side of the two ambassadors usually hidden from the outside world – their talents, their hobbies, their philosophy, to tell the guests about their family stories, to offer books written and published by them. Proceeds from the books’ sales will be used for charity purposes.

Representatives of the Thai artistic community, university professors, business people, ambassadors of China, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Peru, diplomats from other foreign countries, numerous Russians and Greeks living in Thailand were present at the opening. The duties of MC at the ceremony were performed by Mr. Varin Sachdev, popular TV program anchor (Channel TNN 24). The event attracted interest of many Thai mass media.  The ceremony was followed by a small concert and a cocktail reception.

The exhibition hosted by the River City Gallery will be open until June 11. Admission is free.
