Awarding ceremony «For dedication to the Russian language» held in Russian Embassy

On April 10, 2018 the Russian Embassy in Bangkok for the first time hosted a ceremony of awarding best Russian and Thai professors and students as well as those who had dedicated their lives to teaching and studying the Russian language and promoting of the Russian culture. 

H.E. Mr. Kirill Barsky, Ambassador of Russia to Thailand awarded the winners of the international contest of essays on the topic «What is my vision for the future of Russia: my regards to the President of Russia» Yulia Alekseeva, Russian Embassy’s school student, Konstantin Hrebtan and Darya Sazonova, students of «Seven Flowers» Center in Pattaya.

The deserved prizes were presented to the Thai school students who had won a «Quiz Competition on Thai-Russian relations and on general knowledge of Russia» organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand in 2017  within the framework of celebration of 120th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between Russia and Thailand.  The winners were Dom Roongruang, Sorathon Teerasawat and Theerapun Akaradechakorn, students of Saint Gabriel College, Prart Rochniruth, Patcharapon Wuttimayatanan and Kanathip Thankanjanakul, students of Wat Rajbophit School, and Tanyatorn Rojmahamongkol, Jirat Ngarmskunroongrote and Jiratchaya Loypipon from Triam Udom Suksa School.

The Russian Ambassador handed over a certificate on successful completion of courses in «Russian for Communication» at the Russian Centre «Matryshka» to Mr. Peder Law, Indonesian citizen.

A special award named after a Thai school student Chayanon Poonsirasin «For dedication to the Russian language» was presented to  Mr. Aebthong Kumpol Prayoon, teacher of the Kamalasai school in Kalasin, Mr. Adul Kamlaithong, lecturer of International studies of Prince Songkla University, Mrs. Thanittha Thaweedech, managing director of «Ricco Star» and a member of Russian and Soviet Alumni Association, Mrs. Kantassa Taew, Head of the Russian Studies Program at the Faculty of Liberal Arts of Thammasat University and Mrs. Chanunporn Hemsakun, lecturer at the Faculty of Arts of Chulalongkorn University.

The «Chayanon Award» was established by H.E. Mr. Kirill Barsky, Ambassador of Russia to Thailand in memory of the Thai talented boy who tragically died in Russia in 2016 when he was a study exchange student. The Award will be annually presented by the Russian Embassy in Bangkok to Thai teachers, students and activists for special contribution to the promotion of the Russian language and culture in Thailand.

After the ceremony numerous guests (many of whom were Thai Russian language students) were entertained by a small concert program and treated with traditional Russian delicacies.
