On February 24 and 25, 2018 «Siam Paragon», Bangkok’s biggest shopping and entertainment center successfully hosted the 51st Diplomatic Red Cross Charity Bazaar co-organized by the Thai Red Cross Society and foreign embassies.
Mrs. Olga Barskaya, spouse of the Russian Ambassador to Thailand who currently serves as Chairperson of the Thai Red Cross Diplomatic Participants Committee at the solemn opening ceremony delivered a report to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and then accompanied Her Highness during the inspection of the booths of all 53 participating countries.
The Russian Embassy in Bangkok as always took an extremely active part in the Bazaar. Traditional Russian souvenirs, namely «matryoshka» wooden nesting dolls (nearly all were sold out), shawls and scarfs from Pavlov Posad, castle-shaped barrel organs, wooden toys, fridge magnets and key holders were popular among the customers. Visitors could not resist the temptation to taste «pirozhki» (small Russian pies) staffed with apple and cabbage.
As a part of a concert program on the margins of the Bazaar the audience enjoyed the performance of young Thai dancers from the Folk Dance Ensemble «Katyusha» of Mrs. Ekaterina Alekseeva and students of the «Russian Embassy school Ballet Studio» directed by Ms. Julia Tutarskaya who to the surprise of the crowd herself presented a classical solo dance. The fiery folk dances performed by Russian and Thai girls and boys were so breathtaking!
The proceeds from the Bazaar will be later passed to the Thai Red Cross Society Fund to be used for charity purposes.
