Photo exhibition about Russia opened in Bangkok

On January 24, 2018 one of the biggest shopping and entertainment centers of Bangkok «Siam Paragon» hosted a solemn opening ceremony of the photo exhibition «In the Cradle of the Russian civilization» by Mr. David Lau, renowned Thai photographer, businessman and traveler. The exhibition is organized with the support of the Russian Embassy in Bangkok and devoted to the 120th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Thailand. H.E. Mr. Kirill Barsky, Ambassador of Russia to Thailand delivered opening remarks.

The exposition is divided into historical and art photo sections. The central place of the first part is given to the 20 photos taken by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn during Royal trips to Russia in March 1993 and October 2017. Upon Her personal instruction these photographs were granted to the Russian Embassy to display at the exhibition and to produce a photo album.

At the same area the visitors can familiarize themselves with a photo chronicle of Her Royal Highness visit to the Russian Embassy and the Bangkok St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral on November 29, 2017 as well as to review the most iconic photos illustrating the history of the Russian-Thai relations.

The art section includes 110 superb photo artworks by Mr. David Lau captured during his voyages to Russia in 2015-2016. This is the outcome of his visits to Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Vladimir, Suzdal, Murom and Sergiev Posad.

The main idea of the exhibition is to show multifaceted Russia, its landscapes and people’s faces, big cities and small towns, ancient churches and modern buildings as well as history and the modern day of the Russian-Thai relations.

The rich concert program which followed the opening ceremony offered a colorful performance of young dancers of the Russian International Ballet school «Rosinka» (Pattaya) and «Katyusha» folk dance group (Bangkok). All the guests tasted Russian-style cabbage pies and received T-shirts with the logos of the 120th anniversary of the Russian – Thai diplomatic relations.

The exhibition will be opened in «Siam Paragon» (Level М) until January 30, 2018.

We invite everyone who wish to plunge into the world of the art photography and to understand the Russian soul to check out this beautiful photo exhibition. The entrance is free.
