On November 29, 2017 Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand accompanied by the commanders and cadets of the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy, where Her Royal Highness teaches history, visited the Russian Embassy in Bangkok.
The main objective of the visit was to deepen the knowledge of the future officers about modern Russia, its state organization, economy, history, foreign policy, culture and traditions as well as about the development of the Russian-Thai relations which celebrated the 120th anniversary this year.
The cadets showed a particular interest in the presentation on the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Russian military education system and Russia’s efforts in combating international terrorism.
The visit of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn was a great honour for the Embassy. Before this day, members of the Royal Family have never visited diplomatic missions of the USSR or Russia in Thailand.
After visiting the Embassy and the Embassy’s Secondary School Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn proceeded to the Bangkok St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral. A Great Vespers was specially held on the occasion of the visit. Her Royal Highness toured the Church and listened to a briefing on the role of Orthodoxy in the life of Russian community in Thailand and its charity activity in the country.
