On September 21, 2017 a large-scale exhibition devoted to the 120th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Thailand was solemnly inaugurated in the National Legislative Assembly of the Kingdom of Thailand. The event to celebrate the jubilee of friendship between the two nations and peoples was initiated by the leaders of the Thai Parliament.
H.E. Prof. Pornpech Wichitcholchai, President of the Nation Legislative Assembly and H.E. Mr. Kirill Barsky, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Thailand delivered their opening remarks addressing numerous Members of Parliament, high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of the academic community and mass media. The President of the Nation Legislative Assembly emphasized that throughout the history of their interaction Russia and Thailand have always been enjoying strong bonds of friendship and mutual respect. Hon. Gen. Veerun Chantasatkosol, President of the Thailand-Russia Parliamentarians Friendship Group, spoke on the recent development of Russian-Thai inter-parliamentary ties.
The exhibition opening ceremony was decorated with stunning performances of dancers of the Folk Dance Ensemble «Katyusha» from Bangkok and actors of the Thai puppet theater. The guests were invited to familiarize themselves with an exhibition of photographs depicting memorable moments of the history of Russian-Thai relations. One could also buy Russian souvenirs, Thai silk and handicrafts, to taste signature dishes of Russian and Thai cuisines.
The exhibition will last until September 26, 2017.
