On March 18, 2017, the Commander-in-chief of the Russian Land Forces H.E. Colonel General Oleg Salyukov winded up his official visit to the Kingdom of Thailand.
Oleg Salyukov was received in Thailand with all appropriate honours. He had talks with the Chief of Defence Forces of the Royal Thai Armed Forces H.E. General Surapong Suwana-adth. Together with the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army H.E. General Chalernchai Sitthisad Oleg Salyukov reviewed a guard of honour. He was presented with a breastplate and a beret of the Royal Thai Army’s Special service unit.
During the talks with representatives of the Royal Thai Armed Forces’ command, the two sides exchanged views on topical issues of global and regional security including combating international terrorism. The parties also discussed the current state and prospects of developing defence cooperation between the two countries as well as arms procurement plans.
H.E. Colonel General Oleg Salyukov visited the Grand Palace and on behalf of the Russian Armed Forces' command signed the Book of Condolence upon the passing of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
The Commander-in-chief of the Royal Thai Army H.E. General Chalernchai Sitthisad was invited to pay a return visit to the Russian Federation.
