On February 25-26, 2017, one of the biggest shopping and leisure centers of Bangkok Siam Paragon hosted the annual Diplomatic Red Cross Charity Bazaar organized by the Thai Red Cross Society and the Diplomatic Participants Committee. Products from more than 55 countries were represented at the Bazaar. As always, the Russian Embassy in Bangkok took an active part in it.
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn visited the Russian booth. Her Royal Highness was interested in shawls from Pavlov Posad, colorful jewelry lacquer boxes and took photos of our souvenirs on her cell phone.
Traditional Russian souvenirs, namely «matryoshka» wooden nesting dolls, jewelry boxes, scarfs and musical toys as well as «pirozhki» (small Russian pies) staffed with apple and cabbage swept all before one. The new items of the season were funny speaking dolls – characters of the cult Russian cartoon «Masha and a Bear» popular among kids and teenagers of different countries.
As a part of a concert program of the Bazaar young Thai dancers from the Folk Dance Ensemble «Katyusha» directed by Mrs. Ekaterina Alekseeva gladded the eye of the audience. They performed at the lobby of the shopping hall with no vacant seat.
The money raised from the Bazaar will be handed over to the Red Cross Fund and used for charity purposes.
