On February 9, 2017, the Russian Embassy hosted a traditional reception dedicated to the Diplomats’ Day. Among the guests of the evening were staff-members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Security Council of Thailand, UN ESCAP Secretariat, Thailand International Cooperation Agency and friends of the Embassy.
Photos and copies of documents from the archives devoted to the history of Soviet and Russian diplomacy and key landmarks of the Russian-Thai relations were exhibited in the ballroom for the guests of the party.
The hosts were receiving warm congratulations with their professional holiday. In return, they treated the guests with traditional Russian dishes and created an atmosphere of a traditional Russian hospitality. However, the real spice of the evening was a performance of young Russian opera singers, who are participating in the “International Masters Academy for Opera” competition in Bangkok these days. Those present at the reception were charmed by the brilliant performance of the «Brindisi» from Giuseppe Verdi’s «Traviata», «Habanera» from «Carmen» by Georges Bizet, «Aria of Eleckiy» from «The Queen of Spades» by Pyotr Tchaikovsky and the renowned Russian pop hit «Podmoskovniye vechera» («Moscow Nights») of Vasily Soloviev-Sedoi. Meeting endless requests from the crowd the artists had to sing an encore. Sincere thanks to our boys and girls! We wish them great success on the stage.
The Diplomats’ Day reception turned out another good opportunity for Thai diplomats to learn more about the Russian diplomacy and strengthen friendly ties between the Russian Embassy and the Thai MFA.
