From 15 to 16 October, 2019 the Subregional Forum of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) on Sustainable Development for countries of the East and North-East Asia (ENEA) took place in Vladivostok, hosted by the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU).
The meeting brought together a wide range of representatives of executive authorities, civil society, scientific and business community (with more than 150 participants in total) from six countries of the subregion – China (including Hong Kong and Macao), the DPRK, Japan, Mongolia, the Republic of Korea and Russia. The Russian delegation was headed by H.E. Mr. Evgeny Tomikhin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Thailand, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to ESCAP.
The participants reviewed implementation of the Agenda-2030 by the countries of the subregion, exchanged their national experience in achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), discussed issues related to preparation of national voluntary reviews of the SDGs. The Forum also agreed on the recommendations for increasing subregional cooperation on sustainable development.
The Forum in Vladivostok organized through the Russian voluntary contribution by the ESCAP ENEA Subregional Office, authorities of the Primorsky Krai and FEFU became one of the steps within the preparatory process for the 7th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development which will be held in March, 2020 in Bangkok.
