On 26 to 30 November 2018 the 5th Session of the Committee for Social Development and the Midterm review of the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Declaration on Population and Development were held at the UN ESCAP headquarters in Bangkok.
Participants of the meeting discussed prospects of resolving vital social issues on the national and regional levels, including women's empowerment at the Asia-Pacific region, gender equality, ensuring the social and labor rights of the disabled, the elderly and migrants, as well as the implementation of the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Declaration on Population and Development.
A Russian delegation consisted of representatives of Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labour and Ministry of Foreign Affairs took part in the events. In their statements the Russian experts told the audience about the developments in the social and educational spheres, as well as in issues of gender equality in the Russian Federation. All Member States received with the great interest the video presentation on the Russian approaches, presented at thematic discussion on the vocational guidance of children and the integration of persons with disabilities into the labor market.
